Author

Samuel Mockbee (1944–2001) dedicated his life as a teacher, an architect, and an artist to providing “shelter for the soul.” His architecture served to improve the lives of the most impoverished residents of rural Alabama through his work with the Auburn University Rural Studio. He received a MacArthur Fellowship in 2000, and was posthumously awarded an AIA Gold Medal in 2004.
