Mohamed Al-Fakhrant is the author of the novel Fasil lil-dahshah [Bordering the Marvelous] (al-Dar), as well as two collections of short stories, Bint lay! [Lady of the Night] (al-Hay’ah al-‘ammah li-qusur al-thaqafah), and the forthcoming Taht al-matar yarsum al-bahr fi shira’ al-qawarib [In the Rain, the Ocean draws upon the Sails of Boats]. He studied geology at al-Azhar University and lives in Cairo.
