- This weekend, APS contributing editor Annie Coggan takes part in the Arts Gowanus Open Studio Tours: "I am honored to be on the curator tour composed by Robert Henry Contemporary. In the studio I will be showing some of the work that I produced for Russell Janis Gallery last spring for the Folly Cove Follow Up show. There will be some sneak peeks of progress from my Winterthur Fellowship research and original drawings for work an upcoming project with A Public Space. More of my extreme embroidery work will be on view."
- Join us on Monday, November 5, at A Public Space, in partnership with the Authors Guild for That Kind of Mother: From Manuscript to Marketplace, an evening spotlighting Rumaan Alam, in conversation with his editor Megan Lynch of Ecco and his agent Julie Barer of The Book Group, moderated by APS editor Brigid Hughes. Copies of That Kind of Mother will be available for purchase on-site from Stories bookstore. 6:30PM, free and open to all. RSVP requested.
- Join us on Thursday, November 8, at A Public Space, in partnership with Community Bookstore, to celebrate Idra Novey, award-winning author of Ways to Disappear, and her new novel, Those Who Knew, a prescient book about power imbalances and the risks of speaking up in a profoundly divided country. Novey will be joined at this event by authors Monique Truong, Michael Seidlinger, Alex Mar, and Cathy Park Hong reading/performing from the short stage productions that appear in the novel. 6PM, free and open to all. - We'll be at Well-Read Black Girl Fest at Pioneer Works on November 10. Tickets on sale.
- New York area-listeners of Michael Silverblatt's "Bookworm" on KCRW, you'll have a rare opportunity to meet and chat with him when we honor him with the first Deborah Pease Prize for advancing the art of literature at our benefit on December 6. Tickets on sale.
