Monday Memo

News June 4, 2018

This week we're talking about:
  • The launch of A Public Space Academy, our new nights and weekends school for everyone, with new classes taught by Francine Prose, Parul Sehgal, Yiyun Li, and more.
  • Last chance to read our Protest edit, a timely (inspired by the fiftieth anniversary of May 1968) selection of unlocked features from our archive, including Eva Zeisel's prison memoir and writing on race, culture, and dissent in America by Ernest Thompson and Etel Adnan.
  • The Guardian's review of Dorthe Nors's Mirror, Shoulder, Signal (Graywolf Press + A Public Space): "This bewitching Danish novel reveals its tragicomic depths gradually. Shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize in 2017, it was hailed as the antidote to 'hygge.'"
  • In Brooklyn on Thursday, our founding editor Brigid Hughes appears in conversation with bestselling The Female Persuasion author Meg Wolitzer, at the Brooklyn Historical Society.
  • The news that the Savoy has appointed a literary ambassador in Damian Barr, who will relaunch the writers-in-residence program alongside his literary salon at the storied hotel, with a shortlist including Garth Greenwell, whose story "Mentor" appeared in APS No. 22.
