Author

Charles Simic was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and immigrated to the United States in 1954. His New and Selected Poems: 1962-2012 was published by Harcourt in 2013. The recipient of the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry for The World Doesn’t End: Prose Poems (Harcourt), he has also been honored with the 2014 Zbigniew Herbert International Literary Award​, the Frost Medal from the Poetry Society of America, and the Wallace Stevens Award from the Academy of American Poets, and was elected to The American Academy of Arts and Letters. He was the fifteenth Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, and is professor emeritus at the University of New Hampshire.
