Author

Maria d’Arezzo (1890–1978)—born Maria Cardini in Arezzo—was a poet, translator, and editor of the early twentieth-century Italian avant-garde. Soon after publishing her second book of poems (she was not yet thirty), she abandoned creative writing and dedicated herself to translating Greek authors, particularly pre-Socratic philosophy. The Italian versions of the poems in this issue can be found in the anthology Spirale di dolcezza + serpe di fascino. Scrittrici futuriste antologia (Spiral of sweetness + snake of fascination: Futurist women writers), edited by C. Bello Minciacchi (Bibliopolis).
