Author

​Eugenio Montale originally trained as an opera singer, but gave up singing after the death of his teacher, and concentrated his efforts on writing. His first book, Ossi di seppia (Cuttlefish Bones), appeared in 1925 and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1975.
